All REALTOR® members are bound by the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics – when they join, they pledge to abide by a strict code of professional conduct outlined in the Code of Ethics.

When you join the REALTORS® association you agree to abide by the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®, which includes the duty to arbitrate, as well as completion of periodic Code of Ethics training.

Compliance with the REALTORS® Code of Ethics distinguishes you from other real estate professionals and benefits home buyers and home sellers who can have greater confidence in your professionalism and service.

Mediation

1. A voluntary process in which disputing parties meet with a mediator appointed by the Association to create a mutually acceptable resolution of the dispute, rather than having a decision imposed by an arbitration hearing panel.
2. Mediation can occur before or after the Grievance Committee reviews requests for arbitration, depending on local association policy.
3. If a dispute is resolved in mediation, the parties sign an agreement spelling out the terms of the settlement, and no arbitration hearing is held.

Arbitration

This is the process by which the parties to a dispute submit their differences to the judgment of an impartial person or group appointed by mutual consent.

FCBR Committee Information  

The Fort Collins Board President in coordination with the Leadership committee and Executive Vice President identify members who wish to serve on committees annually. Participating in committee activities is one of the best ways to hone your leadership skills, to learn all about what the Board has to offer, and to connect with and learn from fellow real estate professionals. FCBR is always accepting applications to participate on committees and advisory groups.
