Mar 5th: Harmony House-CASA Community Outreach Educational Tour

Location: CASA-Harmony House at 3105 E Harmony Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80528, USA on Monday, March 5, 2012 - 2:00pm

This month's Community Outreach Committee Education Tour will take place on Monday, March 5th from 2-3pm at the Harmony House and will focus on the efforts of CASA, Inc. which is a non-profit, tax exempt (501)c(3) organization that recruits and trains volunteers to work as Court Appointed Special Advocates These volunteers are appointed by the Juvenile Judge, Eighth Judicial District, to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children within our court system.

CASA, Inc. manages the Harmony House family visitation centers in Fort Collins and Loveland, where supervised visitations and exchanges (custody/divorce) can occur within a warm, homelike atmosphere. To learn more about us visit GivingFirst.org.

Urban Renewal Authority Policy Changes Merit Greater Public Discussion

Kaufman & Robinson, Jax Mercantile, North College Marketplace, Valley Steel, & Rocky Mountain Innosphere have become hallmarks of North College, and have become invaluable assets for Fort Collins thanks to their recent construction and improvements. Each of these entities received Urban Renewal Authority (URA) support via Tax Increment Financing (TIF), and not a single one of these improvements would have occurred under changes currently being proposed to URA policies and procedures.

CAR Supports Prohibition of Local Government Sprinkler Requirements

After FCBR and many other local REALTOR Association in Colorado were successful in removing mandatory installation of fire sprinklers from the local adoption of 2009 Residential Building Code in the past couple of years a movement is afoot to see that extended to the entire state of Colorado via a proposed bill.

Attorney General Announces Colorado Will Receive $204.6 Million in Foreclosure-Relief Funds Under Multistate Settlement

Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced this week that Colorado has joined a $25 billion multistate settlement with the five largest national banks: Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citi, and Ally, who account for 60 percent of the home loan servicing market, to end problematic business practices and to help distressed homeowners.

The Fort Collins Board of REALTORS® & Colorado Association of REALTORS® would like to extend a thank you to all of those who attended REALTOR® Day at the Capitol on Thursday, February 3rd.
